Tank maintenance
Having served his apprenticeship with BP, David Hiscock, decided to start his own company with a friend. In 1984 they founded Gillingham Oil Services Ltd, initially offering a waste oil collection service, subsequently expanding to include oil tank cleaning.
In 1989, the company gained new expertise and began offering boiler room strip outs too. In recognition of the wider skills and services, the company was renamed 1st Industrial and Commercial Services Ltd.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength; taking on bigger premises, increasing our fleet of vehicles and building a team of highly skilled engineers to enable us to offer the full spectrum of services within the heating, fuel, generator and air conditioning industries.
In 2012, one of the original partners decided to leave. Christian, son of David, took on additional management responsibilities to secure the firms future for the next generation. Having started working for the firm on a part time basis during his school days, Christian has been running 1st Industrial and Commercial with a skilled and enthusiastic team since 2015.

Our culture at 1st Industrial and Commercial, which is rooted in our values, is one of the reasons so many of our skilled members of staff have been a part of our team for so long.
We recognise that our team and their skills are our biggest asset. We provide regular training to every member of our team. Colleagues are encouraged to complete specialist training and to request to attend training courses.
Keeping our team safe is our priority. Every member of our team knows the health and safety standards that apply to them and meets them. Every one of our colleagues holds a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card and have completed training with The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).
Health and safety
Our clients have complete peace of mind. All our team are trained to the highest levels of health and safety and work to the latest regulations. Every project we undertake is covered by our comprehensive Method Statements and Risk Assessments. All operatives have undergone relevant training to the role they carry out. Our work is always of the highest standard.
